Billy Batson (Asher Angel) is a 14-year-old foster child who is always getting into trouble. After running away from foster homes in 6 different counties, his social worker pleads with him to give people a chance. Shazam stars Zachary Levi, Mark Strong and Ross Butler.

One day at school, Billy catches his best friend Freddy Freeman (Dylan Grazer) being squared up to by the school bullies outside of school. He quickly jumps to his defense by attacking them with Freddy’s crutch. When the bullies start chasing him, he runs frantically to the train station to catch the next train and manages a narrow escape, jumping on board seconds before the door slams shut.

The next things he knows, he is transported to a parallel universe where he is greeted by an ancient, grey-haired wizard (Djimon Hounsou). The mysterious wizard orders him to say the word “shazam”. Miraculously, out of nowhere, he is granted superpowers.

From now on, whenever Billy shouts the powerful magic word, he is struck by a lightning bolt and magically transforms into an adult superhero with a god-like body (Zachary Levi).

Billy must use his powers to fight evil and do good in the world. But still a kid at heart, he gets off to a slow start, showing off to his friends with his newly-acquired skills. Billy must learn to reign in his playful personality and control his powers to fight the deadly forces of evil that Dr.Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong) has in store for him.

Shazam is based on the DC comics character of the same name and adapted from a screenplay by Henry Gayden. The film is directed by David F. Sandberg (Lights Out) and stars an incredible line-up including Zachary Levi (Chuck), Mark Strong (Kingsman: The Golden Circle), Ross Butler (13 Reasons Why), Asher Angel (Andi Mack), Jack Dylan Grazer (It) and Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond).
