We are very pleased to announced a new Shopmobility centre has opened in centre!
The NBR Shopmobility Plus store will enable people to hire mobility scooters and wheelchairs for the day to access the shopping centre and wider city independently. Operating as a Community Interest Company, any profits generated by the service will be donated to local good causes.
Open seven days a week the NBR Shopmobility Plus centre can be found on level two of Castle Quarter, next to Superbowl UK. On the same level, visitors can access disabled parking spaces, an adult Changing Places facility, disabled toilet and two street level entrances.
The new Shopmobility service at Castle Quarter will be operated by a local, family-run firm; NBR Scooter Brokers Ltd. Owned by father and son team Nigel and Jonathan Rosenfeld, the company has been providing mobility scooters and disability aids to people in Norfolk and Suffolk for 18 years. This latest venture adds to their two mobility and scooter showrooms, located in Diss and Stowmarket. Jez Jones has been appointed as the new manager for the Castle Quarter store, a face some may recognise from the Shopmobility site at the former Chapelfield Shopping Centre, where he previously worked for 6 years.
Robert Bradley, Castle Quarter’s centre manager says; “We’re delighted to have NBR Shopmobility Plus opening at Castle Quarter, providing our shoppers and visitors with access to mobility scooters plus lots of friendly advice and knowledge about which mobility aids are best suited to their individual needs.”
Jonathan Rosenfeld, director of NBR adds; “We really want to make a difference, delivering a simple and straightforward service so people can easily hire a mobility aid scooter and explore not only everything Castle Quarter has to offer, but the wider city too. As we own all the equipment and vehicles we will be hiring, we can ensure they are maintained to an extremely high level. Not only can people hire a scooter or wheelchair for the day, but they can also visit the store to have an informal, friendly chat about what other equipment might make their lives easier; from radar keys to vehicle adaptations. It’s about sharing our knowledge so people can be more independent while at home and when out and about.”
To get the best rates for hiring a mobility scooter or wheelchair, NBR are offering an annual membership of £10 which makes a day’s hire £6. For non-members using the service on an ad-hoc basis, the rate is £10 per day. No prior booking or appointments are required. Visitors are asked to maintain social distancing and please wear a mask when visiting Castle Quarter unless excused on medical grounds.
NBR Shopmobility Plus will be open 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
