Father’s Day in Norwich: Gift Ideas, Dining & Things to Do at Castle Quarter

Father’s Day is one of those rare occasions where you’ve got the perfect excuse to actually do something together – not just hand over a card and call it a day. If you’re based in Norwich and wondering how to make it a bit more special this year, Castle Quarter is the best spot in the city to put together a proper day out for Dad.

Whether he’s a foodie, a film buff, a secret bowling fanatic, or the kind of dad who’s genuinely impossible to buy for – there’s more here than you might expect.

If you’d rather give Dad an experience than another bottle of shower gel, Castle Quarter makes it pretty easy to fill a whole day without even leaving the building.

Challenge Dad at Superbowl UK

There’s something about bowling that brings out everyone’s competitive side – even dads who claim they’re “just here for the fun of it.”  Superbowl UK has bowling, arcade games and enough going on to keep the whole family entertained for hours.

Catch a Film at Vue Cinema

Sometimes the best Father’s Day is a dark room, a big screen, and a bucket of popcorn. Vue Cinema’s eight screens and reclining seats make it a solid choice. Let Dad pick the film, no arguments.

Experience the Thrill at Drive Lounge

For dads who’ve always fancied themselves a bit of a racing driver, Drive Lounge offers immersive motorsport simulators right in the centre of Norwich. It’s a genuinely impressive kit and bragging rights are absolutely up for grabs.

Enjoy Darts & Games at Arrowheadz

Not every dad wants a high-adrenaline day out and that’s fine. Arrowheadz is the kind of place where you can settle in, have a drink, and enjoy a few rounds of darts without it feeling like a PE lesson. Relaxed, fun, and surprisingly competitive once you get going.

Put Dad to the Test at Escape Hunt

If your family thrives on a bit of pressure, Escape Hunt is a brilliant Father’s Day option. Choose from a range of themed escape rooms, think pirates, wartime codebreaking and a certain Mad Hatter!  Or take it outside with one of their city hunt adventures around Norwich. It’s the kind of thing that sounds straightforward until you’re ten minutes in and suddenly everyone’s arguing about the clues. Great fun, genuinely.

Step Back in Time at Retro Replay

For the dad who grew up feeding 10p coins into arcade machines, Retro Replay will feel like coming home. Over 80 classic arcade cabinets – Space Invaders, Time Crisis, Afterburner and more – plus 20 retro console setups with a library that’s constantly growing. Best of all, it’s a single entry fee with unlimited credits, so Dad can finally finish House of the Dead without having to remortgage. Open from 11am at weekends, it’s a seriously good sheer-nostalgia option.

A good meal is pretty much non-negotiable.

Fuel Up at Boom Battle Bar

If you’re after food that actually fits the occasion, Boom Battle Bar‘s street food menu, Boom Bites, is made for exactly this kind of day. Small plates for grazing, loaded sides, and proper burgers, all built for sharing (or not – no judgement!). It’s the kind of food that keeps the energy going without anyone needing a sit-down afterwards.

Family Friendly Food at Putt Putt Social

If you want food that’s a bit more of an event in itself, Putt Putt Social’s menu delivers. The Social Stack, a flame-grilled beef burger in a brioche bun, stacked with onion rings and served with fries and slaw, is the kind of thing Dad will actually be pleased about. For groups, the loaded nachos are genuinely built for sharing, and the wings and bites menu means everyone can graze their way through the afternoon without committing to a full sit-down meal. There’s also a solid vegan option if you need to keep everyone happy.

And they haven’t forgotten the little ones either. The kids’ menu is simple and well-priced – a cheeseburger and fries, chicken goujons, mac ‘n’ cheese, or ice cream, all under £8. It’s the kind of children’s menu that actually solves the problem rather than just existing for the sake of it, which makes the whole Father’s Day lunch a lot less stressful when you’ve got younger ones in tow.

If you’ve left it a little late ( again no judgment), Castle Quarter’s shops cover a decent range of dads.

For the Stylish Dad
TK Maxx is always worth a wander, you’ll often find decent shirts, footwear and accessories from brands you wouldn’t expect, without the eye-watering price tags.

For the Grooming Enthusiast
The Fragrance Shop stocks all the big names -Hugo Boss, Armani, Paco Rabanne and a new aftershave is one of those gifts that feels genuinely personal without requiring you to know his inside leg measurement.

For the Tech & Gaming Dad
This one takes a little exploring, but Castle Quarter’s mix of independent shops and high street names means there’s usually something unexpected to uncover for dads who love gadgets, gaming, or a bit of both.

For the Dad with a Sweet Tooth
Sometimes the best gift is just sitting down together over something indulgent. Muffin Break and Shaake both do the job nicely – whether that’s a proper coffee and cake moment or an elaborate milkshake he’d never order for himself.

It’s central, it’s got five levels of things to do and you won’t spend half the day trying to find parking or figure out where to go next. For a Father’s Day that actually feels like a day rather than a quick errand – it’s a genuinely good shout.
This year, skip the predictable and make a proper day of it. Dad will notice the difference.
