Sustainable September at Castle Quarter

This September, Castle Quarter is putting sustainability in the spotlight. From zero-waste shopping to clothing exchanges, charity shops to recycling schemes, there are plenty of ways to make eco-friendly choices when you visit us in Norwich.

At the heart of our celebration is Ernie’s Zero Waste, the newest store to open at Castle Quarter. Ernie’s makes it easy to cut down on single-use plastics and unnecessary packaging, offering refillable household products, toiletries and cupboard staples. Simply bring your own containers, stock up on what you need, and enjoy shopping that’s better for both you and the planet.

New-U is leading the way in sustainable fashion. This not-for-profit exchange store offers a fresh take on shopping by allowing you to swap pre-loved clothes and accessories instead of buying new. It’s an affordable, fun and sustainable way to refresh your wardrobe while supporting an incredible local cause.

We’re also proud to host fantastic charity shops, including Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney and the YMCA, both of which give pre-loved items a second chance while raising funds for vital community projects. Donating or shopping with them is an easy way to reduce waste and support the local community at the same time.

Even our big-name retailers are helping customers recycle. Boots runs a recycling scheme for empty blister packs, while TK Maxx continues its Give Up Clothes for Good campaign, encouraging shoppers to donate unwanted clothes and accessories to support Cancer Research UK.

So, whether you’re refilling, recycling, reusing or rehoming, there are plenty of ways to join us this Sustainable September at Castle Quarter. Together, we can all make small changes that add up to a big difference.
